Bamboo boards and beyond
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Asian Pacific Technology Transfer (APCTT), New Delhi, supported NID's initiative for a concept development workshop on the creation of new applications with laminated bamboo boards through research and development.

Prof. Peter Zec
As a part of the Festival of Germany in India, Prof. Peter Zec, President, Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany had been invited by NID to conduct a series of seminears on 'Designing Success' at Mumbai and Delhi.

International toy workshop
The First Asian Creativity Workshop, focussed on designing toys for children's rehabilitation washeld at NID during January 14-31, 2001. It had been jointly organized by NID and Forden durch Spielmittel, Berlin, Germany.
 
Baroness vists NID
The British Minister of State for Education and Employment, Honb'le Baroness Tessa Blackstone and a delegation consisting of senior British officials, visited NID on January 4, 2001. They discussed issues pertaining to educational exchange between NID and the various design and art schools and universities of Britain.

Restructuring academic Programmes
School Leaver's Professional Education Programme (SLPEP) and Advanced Entry Professional Education Programme (AEPEP) are renamed as Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) respectively. This was come into effect from June 2001.
 
E-learning lab with Tata Interactive
NID signs a MOU with Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) to enhance and accelerate learning in different areas.

Textile and Apparel Design
NID at Pret-e-Porter Fair in Paris

NID was invited by the INdian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) to participate in the ready-to-wear garment fair Pret-e-Porter organised in Paris during September 8-11, 2000.

The Indo-French Collection

Nid and French Product Designer Adrien Gardere work together to design the Indo-French Collection.
 
Milestones
The collection is sent to St.Etienne in France in the first week of October 2000 for being displayed in the Second International Biennale Exhibition.
