Chitrakatha'07 team is very thankful to all the participants for their kind interest and participation in the International Student Animation Festival.

We are very happy to publish the list of films short-listed for Final Competition Screening scheduled on 25,26 and 27 of October 2007.

We are enthusiastic towards the presence of all the participants at Chitrakatha'07 - an artistic celebration of the medium of animation.

Views of the pre-selection jury

Films that are most personal, end up being the most universal ones. If a film is deeply rooted, it automatically acquires a context, which is important to assess its significance in a given time and space. The sincerity of a film is its values and function that make the films meaningful, both to the maker as well as the viewers.

We received entries from 15 countries across the globe. All the films reflected that the students who made them had intrinsic understanding of the medium and what was quite inspiring was the kind of freedom they showed in their explorations. The way they chose to say the kind of stories they wanted to share was personalized contextualized and did not evade from talking about their roots. This also shows the evolution of animation as a medium of expression and communication.

We were trying to encourage thoughtful story telling. It was a treat to see films from different parts of the world that were different in terms of ideas and execution. It is all about encouraging young film makers to let them showcase their works on a platform where it would help them gather different points of views and thus to have a richer experience. During the process of selection it was a difficult task to have different points of view from the jury panel to strike a balance between the execution and the content while we were trying to look into the sensitivity of the storyteller in terms of awareness with respect to the scenarios that they chose to narrate the stories through animation.
