Faculty Development Programme
NID aims to strengthen its core faculty team with professionals from the field of design and other allied areas. It is looking for individuals who are driven with a passion for teaching, research and intellectual challenges. The Institute will be conducting intensive stipendary Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) for two years in the Industrial Design Faculty (Product Design, Transportation and Automobile Deisgn, Furniture and iNterior Deisgn, Ceramic and Glass Deisgn and Toy Design and Development), Textile and Apparel Design Faculty (Textile Design, Apparel Designa and merchandising, Lifestyle Accessory Design), Communication Design Faculty (Graphics, AnimationFilm and Video), IT Integrated (experiential) Design Faculty (New Media Design, Information and Digital Design, Design for Retail Experience and Design for Digital Experience). Remuneration for the FDp associates will vary based on qualification and experience (in the field of industry or academics) and will range from Rs. 12000/- to Rs.17000/-.
You should be a graduate or post graduate in the relevant subject, preferably with experience in the relevant industry/academics/having research based exposure in any of the above areas, and are interested in an academics and research oriented career in design, please forward CV and recent passport size photograph, along with two academic/industry related references at

TERMS AND CONDITIONS (Faculty Development Programme)
- The selected FDP trainee will be undergoing a training for the period of two years from the date of joining the Institute.
- The trainee will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 12000/- to Rs. 17000/- depending upon qualifications (UG/PG) and nos. of years experience in the relevant field. He/she will not be required to pay any tuition/training fees.
- The training programme will majorly comprise of lectures, assignments, class room work, library research, design research, projects, teaching assistance etc.
- The trainee should agree to complete his/her full term of on the job training of two years at the Ahmedabad/ Gandhinagar/ Bengaluru Campus, or at NID’s satellite centre, New Delhi as per the requirements/ course disciplines, etc.
- He/she will be permitted to withdraw from the training programme within six months from its commencement on the basis of a specific request/genuine reason from the trainee’s side.
- At the end of each semester a comprehensive review of the trainee’s’ performance will be organized. During the first review, in case the performance is found to be below the level of expectation, NID may ask him/her to leave the training programme forthwith.
- If the candidate leaves the training programme after six months of joining or if he/she is asked to withdraw from the training programme after six months of training, for any reasons whatsoever, he/she will have to refund the entire amount of stipend received by him/her.
- On completion of the training, the FDP trainee will be required to serve the Institute for a minimum period of 3 (three) years on contract basis on such terms as may be decided by the Institute as normally applicable to similar contract appointments.
- The trainee will devote his/her whole time and attention exclusively to the training programme at the Institute.
- There is no provision for accommodation on the campus. The FDP trainee will have to make his/her own arrangements for his/her stay outside the campus during the period of training.
- The Institute will be entitled to discontinue the agreement without assigning any reason thereof, if in the opinion of the Institute, the trainee’s progress is not satisfactory or his/her continuance in the Institute is deemed undesirable. This agreement will cease in such a case from the date the trainee’s training is discontinued.
- In case of any dispute or any matter arising out of or relating to these terms or otherwise, Ahmedabad will be considered as the place where the cause of action has arisen and the appropriate court of Ahmedabad will alone have jurisdiction.
- The trainee will report to the Head, Centre for Training of Trainers during the training period.
