Ms. Garima Aggarwal
, FID, has won Student Category Sponsored by Elle Décor, for designing a Tippler Chair that resembles a wine glass and got full scholarship Summer course at Instituto Marangoni, London Campus.

International Design Competition
World Wool Award 2007 (International wool textile organization, Brussels)
Certificate of Merit - for “Concept and Innovation” for the design Project on Protective Clothing for Soldiers, based on Angora Fibers (using Plasma Technology) to reduce the weight of the garment and also increase the
warmness, functionality and cost effectiveness. Project work has been published in the book containing selected projects for the reference to industry and institutions all over world. (also published in IWTO web)

International Art and Design Competition
World of Wearable Art 2007 (WOW, Nelson New Zealand)
Wearable Art Structure “Metal Petal” -  Received special jury mentions (September 20th 2007). He has been chosen form 2007 show to be displayed in world of wearable art™ and rare CAR™  Museum, Nelson For 12 months starting from November 2007 and short listed as one of the best 3 design student from India to participate In 2007 Wow show and also to attend the international designer meet at Wellington city council.

Animation film 'Symphonic' by Rajiv Eipe has won the International Animation Day 2007, Best Production, Student Category award at ASIFA India, Mumbai and Promax Gold 2007, New York

Animation film 'One Fine Friday' won the Best execution, Student Category award at ASIFA, International Animation Day 2007, India, Mumbai

Animation film 'Feed Back' by Manpal Setia, Akinato Assumi, Bhavna Vyas, Subhangi Subramaniam, Priyanka Kaushal, Pramod Marshal, Bhanu Prakash, Amrita Singh has won the Student film category as the Best Film ASIFA INDIA 2007, Mumbai.

Animation film 'The Rain Dance' by Vijay Kumar Arumugam has won the following awards: (1) FICCI -2007 at Mumbai  outstanding Indian content , student category, (2) TASI- VCA(Viewers Choice Award),Best Student Animation, 2007 at Mumbai, (3) Selected at ANNECY 2007,at student competition category, France and (4) DIGICON 2007 Encouragement Award,Tokyo, Japan.

 

Megha Lakhani's classroom project 'Prakash Travelling Cinema' has won the 'Best Student Film' Award at Jeevika 2007: South Asia Livelihood Documentary Film Festival, New Delhi.

Aloke Shetty's documentary film 'Road to America' has won the top award in the 'New Horizon' category, at the 3rd Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival (http://www1.aljazeera.net/), held between
23-26 April, at Doha, Qatar. 

Aloke gets a golden trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of 15,000 Qatari riyals.

Three other NID student films were also competing in the same festival - Nayantara Kotian's 'One Show Less' and Sreejith Paul's 'Waiting for Sunday' in the Short Films category and Megha Lakhani's 'Prakash Travelling Cinema' in the New Horizon category.

 

Jindal Steel Innovation Award
NID students Nandita Mehrotra (PG Furniture and Interior Design), and Shreya Sarda (PG Graphic Design) had participated together in the Jindal Steel Innovation Award and won the first prize in the product design category.

 

Several films made by NID students and alumni won important awards at the 2006 IDPA (Indian Documentary Producers Association) Awards for Excellence in short filmmaking, which were presented in Mumbai on 2nd March 2007.

Awards were conferred in 14 categories for achievement in the fields of advertising, fiction and documentary filmmaking.

NIDians among IDPA Awards for Excellence 2006 include -

1. Student Documentary / 1st Prize / Joint Winners
    Chaitanya Modak for 'Voices of Kutch' 
    Nayantara Kotian for 'One Show Less'

2. Student Documentary / 2nd Prize
    Akhila Krishnan for 'Words In Stone'

3. Student Animation / 1st Prize
    Rajiv Eipe for 'Symphonick'

INDUSTRY AWARDS

1. Corporate Communication / 1st Prize
    Rajat Nagpal (alumni) for 'Tulsi Chanrai Foundation'

2. Public Service Communication / 1st Prize
    Vaibhav Kumaresh (alumni) for 'Buladi Anti Aids'

3. Animation / 2nd Prize / Joint Winners
    Vaibhav Kumaresh (alumni) for 'Amaron III'
    E. Suresh (alumni) for 'Slim vs Slim'

 

NID Student Film 'Chances Are' by Aloke Shetty has won the "Best Long Fiction Film" Award at the National Students Video Film Festival (NSVFF 2007) ( http://www.nsvff.org ) held between February 10-12, 2007, at Jahangirabad Media Institute, Lucknow.

Another NID Student film ‘Through the Threads of Time' by Swati Desai has won the "Best Short Non-Fiction Film" Award in the same Festival.

Besides a citation and a memento each, Aloke and Swati will both get a cash prize of Rs 20,000/- apiece.

 

NID Student Film ‘Road to America’ by Aloke Shetty won the Best Direction (Documentary) and Best Script (Documentary) Awards at “Twilight ’07”, the National Festival of Short Films held between January 3rd to 5th, 2007, at New Delhi. Another NID Student film ‘Fly by Red Shoes’ by Harsha Nagaraju won the Best Animation Award in the same Festival.

Seven NID Student Films were shown in “Twilight ’07” (including Road to America and Fly by Red Shoes). A total of 30 student films were pre-selected for the final competition lineup (from among 100  entries received from various institutes such as FTII, Pune; NID, Ahmedabad; L.V Prasad Film & Television Academy, Chennai; Loyola Academy, Hyderabad; Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; Wigan And Leigh College, Delhi; Zee Institute of Media Arts, Mumbai; SAE Technology College, Delhi; University of Delhi; AAFT, Noida, etc..

A panel chaired by eminent film jurist K. Bikram Singh and comprising of Deepa Gahlot (film critic), Kunal Jhaveri (Co-founder of Short Circuit), Siddhrath Srinivasan (filmmaker) and K. Karthikeyan (Camera man and International Line Producer) judged the films in the competitive section. 
 
The winners get a cash award and a specially designed trophy.
