The O P Jindal Stainless Chair would direct and facilitate a range of projects and activities, particularly dealing with applications of stainless steel material and technology. The chair is expected to develop new areas and applications utilizing the stainless steel material and technology in order to contribute and benefiting industry in particular and society in general. The chair will have adequate project facilities, resources, and network for its functioning and would have good interaction with faculty and students at the campus at Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Gandhinagar and be part of the NID family.

DESIGN RESEARCH  CHAIRS AT NID
Design Research Chairs are meant for collaborative research opportunities at NID supported by specific sponsoring industry/institution. The purpose of the Design Research Chairs is to generate a body of knowledge and new developments. The research carried out by the Chairs usually focus on the specific design development needs of the industry in particular and society in general.

National Institute of Design invites nominations/applications for the O P Jindal Chair for Stainless Steel Product Innovation & Development from well qualified design educators, designers and allied professionals from India/ Overseas (working/retired)

Eligibility

1. The candidate should have at least 15 years of relevant experience and should have made specific and tangible contributions in the relevant sector in relation to Design Research & Innovations.
2. An ability to foresee and make innovative strategic contributions within the frames of Design Innovation and Technology, keeping the cultural and socio-economic scenario in view.
3. An aptitude for contributing to the on-going PG design education and research programmes at NID would be an added advantage.

Emoluments  & Facilities
Emoluments will be broadly based on the lines of what is offered to the Principal Designers at NID. Facilities for conducting the research work at NID's Knowledge Management Centre, Studios and Labs will be duly provided by the institute. NID shall facilitate the reimbursement of expenditure on purchase of books and periodicals, and travel within India as per the approved research plan. Generally, norms for senior contractual appointments at NID shall apply.

Duration & Location
The Design Research Chairs will be located at NID (Ahmedabad / Gandhinagar / Bangalore) and normally will have two-year tenure.

Selection Procedure:
Selection will be done by a panel constituted by Chairman of NID and chaired by Director, NID or his nominee. The panel shall have representative of sponsoring industry/institution & domin area experts.
