The Digitization process which NID has began over the last few years is aimed at documenting, archiving and disseminating large collection of resources from the NID's research, consultancy and educational activities which are in the form of textual documents, photographs, colour transparencies. The audio and video collection contains some of the rare recordings of speeches and lectures of visiting faculties from the 60's and the works of students and faculty which are on the magnetic tapes. The digitisation process is aimed at preserving these valuable collection permanently. Besides NID's own need, this would also help in the dissemination of design-based information to educational institutions, libraries, design organisations, industry and other user organisations worldwide. The Digitization process of the rich collection of NID's resources are aimed at accessing through the powerful Intranet and Internet facilities. A team of professionals is on continuous process to digitize the textual and audiovisual materials so that the faculty, students and the registered members get information online sitting at their own desktops. |
