Mines and Minerals Trading Corporation Ltd. wanted to upgrade its silverware line under the brand name Sanchi which encompassed a large array of traditional designs that catered to the high-end consumers under the categories – tableware, gift items, corporate accessories and religious items (including deities). The products and their packaging were to be developed under a theme or different themes as well.
I started with a user survey of a range of people from students to CEO level and graphed the results according to current trends. Along side, an in depth market study was carried out to compare the competition in India and abroad. I also did a complete documentation of the manufacturing processes involving silver that have been advancing in technology over time.
I assisted the company in producing a range of twenty aesthetically and ergonomically detailed products, with importance given to quality and minute detailing, pertaining to current market trends. I also developed a range of packaging to contain products varying in sizes and requirements for different occasions. I followed it through right up to the briefing of the artisans and the final production.
India is the one of the largest consumers of silver in the world, and Diwali is a very auspicious occasion for Indians to purchase silver commodities. In the context of the jewellery and precious metal industry, this was a significant product launch for that particular day. It was a great project for understanding the market associated with precious metals. |
