Mini Refrigerator using Rotational Moulding Technology

Mini Refrigerator using Rotational Moulding Technology

I wanted my final project to be an inventive process concerned with the synthesis of instrumental factors such as engineering, technology, material selection and aesthetics with machine producible solutions that balanced user needs within technical and social constraints. CTech Labs offered a project where I could oversee both the conception and manufacture of a product.

My design firm (CTech Labs Pvt. Ltd.) was commissioned to design a mini-refrigerator using Rotational Moulding process. The product was aimed for office use and as a mini-bar in hotel rooms. My objective was to provide my client with an appearance that was versatile, aesthetically appealing, easy to operate, reliable and cost effective.

The project was initiated with a few high energy brain storming sessions to quickly review the scope of the project, develop a preliminary set of design specifications, ideas and project schedule. My primary objective was to design a product based on existing components that could be configured to satisfy the needs of a small office refrigerator and the same major modules would be suitable in hotels as a mini-bar.

During this project, I was given freedom and responsibility to make key design decisions as well as an opportunity to work on minor details of the product. This gave me immense confidence to approach projects and research topics I had little knowledge of. Working with CTech Labs was certainly a good academic and career move for me.
