NID is hosting WorldBamboo Day 2020 on 18 Sep 2020

WorldBamboo Day 2020

11th World Bamboo Day 2020 will be held as a Bamboo Festival on Virtual Platform on 18th September 2020 from 14.30 Hours. Due to the current pandemic situation, it is planned to have this festival on a virtual platform where participants from more than 15 countries are expected to take part. The event is organized by India -Taiwan Global Tech Forum in association with South Asia Bamboo Foundation, National Institute of Design (NID) as main Host, Assam Valley School (AVS), Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), National Cheng Chung University (CCU) Taiwan, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, and many civil societies who are engaged in bamboo related activities across the globe.
This year’s key events will be talks on Bamboo & related fields, Honoring Bamboo Gurus from SE Asia, music and bamboo bands from Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, India (Kerala and Nagaland) will be playing to showcase bamboo and its culture, Bamboo shoot cooking shows, innovations, and product, launching, Comic Strips competition & Photography competition for School Children and Product design competitions for students & professionals are some of the key events for the WBD2020.

As part of this there will be an international webinar with many national and international speakers. The Webinar will be hosted by NID.  Shri Nitin Gadkariji, Hon. Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Minister of Shipping and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, will be giving the inaugural speech for the event.
