My film is based on old age, when elderly people start feeling unproductive. I disagree with this philosophy. The message of my film is that the zeal to learn and pursue a new interest should not be restricted by age. Also, learning should be fun and not a serious goal driven activity.
The central character is an old man who lives in a small house with no electricity. In the first scene, he is holding a torch in his hand and looking at old pictures which show that when he was young he used to be proficient in many areas such as body building, singing, basketball, etc. Now he is old and he can’t even stand properly. He picks up a guitar and tries to play it, unsuccessfully. He tries all kinds of silly methods to learn but only sparks come out.
He starts crying and praying in front of the guitar when Jimmy Hendrix (an iconic guitarist) appears and blesses him. Renewed and happy, he starts playing the guitar. Once again, only sparks come out. He becomes very agitated and amplifies his efforts. A big explosion occurs. The old man is seen lying on the ground smiling. In the last scene, he is seen playing the guitar again but this time he is using it as a dynamo and instead of musical notes, he is now producing electricity.
The making of this film was very chaotic and full of challenges. However, the iterative process has enhanced both the film and my own skill as a film-maker considerably. |
