The Small Window

The Small Window

The brief was to create a visual narrative in the form of a short animation film on the issue of disappointing soak up of a single screen theatre by new technology and industrialisation.

This film is the journey of an old man who represents the single screen cinema hall and his pet dog that represents the projector. A projector that is lying in a theatre has life and it is recalling its olden days. It happens to put one film accidentally; a film about this old man and the dog, and it relates its journey till then and starts associating itself and the theatre with the old man and the dog. It also discerns the cause of why it is left out just like that and why people are no more interested in it.

The most challenging part of this film was to set a proper production pipe line. The process I chose included concept, character design, story board, animation, sequence timing, production procedure, special effects, sound design, and editing.

A self sponsored diploma project turned out to be a blessing for me as it gave me full freedom to do what I wanted as an animation film maker. The project allowed me to research in larger perspective as the theme of the film involved many social issues. I tried out a different approach in terms of story telling and also the style and treatment
of the film.
