My project, ‘Dekoh music,’ enables people to listen to their favourite music on the go, and also enables them to share their music.
Dekoh Music combines the features of a desktop music player with those on a web 2.0 site for music lovers. Typical features of Dekoh music are: organise your music, browse your music, create and share play lists, stream music to your friends, add cover art and artist photos to your collection.
I followed a user centred design process initially beginning with domain research. Later on, the process involved generating requirement model, rapid and iterative prototyping, prototype testing, design changes and implementation.
The project was launched on 6th June 2007 for the public. Also, it proved to be a step ahead in implementing the larger notion of internet freedom and enabling people to share, listen to and talk about music freely with out any big corporation playing its role or controlling this interaction amongst internet commons.
I think I have learned to work under constraints for a real audience. The immediacy of the audience to one’s project has a lot to do in terms of bringing in the iterative nature of design. I have experienced user’s reactions to prototypes altering my design decisions. There were moments of both delight and frustration in the course of this project, but the collective learning out of these experiences motivates me to put my feet into users’ shoes when it comes to designing a product for them. |
