User Interface Design for Adobe Presenter

User Interface Design for Adobe Presenter

Adobe Presenter is a rich media content authoring tool that enables the user to create high quality, on-demand presentations within Microsoft PowerPoint. As the User Interface of PowerPoint changes along with the release of Office 12, there will be changes in Presenter UI. Presenter as a plug-in in PowerPoint will move to adopt Ribbon based UI of Office 12. The scope of the diploma project was to implement the Ribbon UI design and Quiz Manager Workflow. My role was designing a completely new UI to Presenter, inline with the changes in Microsoft office 2007.

This project helped a typical engineering based product like Presenter to undergo a complete revamp and follow a user centred approach to UI design. The change in UI made the product more user friendly and inline with changes in its parent product Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.

Working for four months with the Adobe Presenter team provided me with a learning experience of a lifetime, very different from the project experience I had at NID. At NID, the projects were exploratory in nature, but in the industry, the scope for exploration is well defined to make sure what you design gets to the customers. In terms of UI, I got a chance to understand how a world class product UI is made, company specific processes are followed, and how design teams work together to come up with UI standards to be followed across suite of company products.
