Ceramic and Glass Design discipline at NID imparts multiple design approaches through extensive engagement with materials, people, technologies and work cultures.

The discipline provides opportunities to learn from the craft traditions of the country and global art practices. While recognizing its potential in future technologies and applications in emerging domains, the discipline offers tremendous expressive and creative possibilities in the realm of craft, architectural spaces, healthcare, hospitality, home décor, hi-tech products and lifestyle product categories.

Following NID's core pedagogical approach of 'learning by doing', the discipline supports students to develop their skills and conceptual thinking in material and its technology. The discipline creates opportunities to enquire, study, experience and conceptualise meaningful products, services and design strategies for various sectors. Through their engagement in social development, entrepreneurial ventures, industrial production, material research and other domains, graduates of the discipline have been able to enhance user-experience, address social and environmental issues and encourage inclusive growth for diverse collaborators.
