Jagadish Kumar brings over 19 years of experience in art and design education, research, and practice to his role as an Associate Senior Faculty in Communication Design studies at the National Institute of Design (NID). Currently, he serves as the Co-lead of the Graphic Design Discipline and Head of NID Printlabs. His diverse portfolio spans graphic design, illustrations, publication, and visual arts, including painting, sculpture, and printmaking.

Having obtained his post-graduation degree in Painting and Printmaking from the Central University of Hyderabad and his graduation from the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore, his professional journey began in 2002 and includes significant milestones such as being a national scholar at the artist residency at the PPIF Foundation in Mumbai in 2004, and recognition as a National Scholar by the Department of Culture, Human Resource Development, Government of India, in 2005. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Inlaks India Foundation Award for Visual Arts in 2007. Prior to joining NID, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), in Department of Design.

At NID, Jagadish has led numerous projects with the Integrated Design Services (IDS), creating branding, packaging, and visual identities (logos). Notable projects include identity designs for Prasar Bharati, the National Public Service Broadcaster, Government of India, JSW School of Public Policy at IIM Ahmedabad, and ARIES - Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences in Nainital.

Jagadish is a key member of the faculty group at NID, offering guidance and instruction in various areas, including Design Drawing, Color Perception, Visual Fundamentals, Design Methods, Research Methods, Design Thinking, Systems Thinking, and advanced studies in Graphic Design. He covers subjects such as Color Theory, Color Psychology, Color Illusion, Digital Colors, Visualization, Visual Semiotics, Comics & Graphic Novels, Children’s Book Illustrations. Additionally, he guides students through various design projects.

Beyond academia, Jagadish remains deeply engaged in contemporary art and design, continually practicing and exhibiting his works nationally and internationally. His commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation underscores his dedication to the field.
