Dr. Mihir Bholey is Principal Faculty of Interdisciplinary Design Studies and Discipline Lead of PG Science and Liberal Arts at NID Gandhinagar Campus. He teaches various subjects of Liberal Arts covering the broad area of Humanities and Social Sciences which range from Comparative Aesthetics to Narrative Theories, Semiotics, Approaches to Indian Society, Public Policy and Design, Material Culture, Urbanization and Design and Research Methodology to name a few. His present research interest is in the area of Public Policy and Design on which he has published research papers and articles. Mihir Bholey holds his PhD in Social Science from CEPT University, Ahmedabad and Master’s in Humanities, English Literature from Patna University. His crossdisciplinary doctoral research covers the issue of caste conflict and social justice. He has extensively written and published in various national and international publications, books and research journals on a number of issues and has also taught and delivered lecture at premier foreign and Indian institutions such as University of Applied Sciences, Northwestern Switzerland, National University Singapore (NUS), IIT, Delhi University, Patna University and Gujarat University. He has three books to his credit namely ‘Caste Conflict and Social Justice: the Discourse and Design published by Lambert, Germany, Design Samvad (in Hindi) and Young Designers 2010, (Edited) both published by NID. Mihir has also been on NCERT’s advisory panel for a book on Graphic Design and curriculum development in region-specific art. His academic and research interests include public policy and design, urbanization, globalization, media studies, socio-political research and literature.
