The objective of my project was to understand the concept of visual brand development for the client, Sewara Hospitality and Development, an upcoming name in the tourism industry of India. Sewara already had a parent identity, designed by my sponsor devkabirmalik design.
My project looked at evolving a visual language for the brand that would reflect its values and personality.
I started my project by designing letterheads for Sewara with the existing parent identity and then re-designing their website. Both these tasks familiarized me with the brand and help me get an idea of how design elements shape up the visual look and feel that one is aiming to project . The most interesting part of this project was designing site identities for two properties, 'The Lodi' in New Delhi and 'Pushkar Resorts' in Rajasthan. Based on the design of these two, I developed an overall template for creating the identities for all of their properties, in terms of culture and heritage, and at the same time, make each of these unique in terms of the context they were associated with.
During the project, the biggest challenge was to generate a consistent visual imagery for Sewara, which is flexible enough to be applied through all the collaterals using different media.
The project helped me make connections between the real world and my academic learning so far, sharpening my skills in graphic design. Apart from actually designing forms and layouts, learning to approach and break down a problem within its context was an invaluable experience for me. |
