My project at Pramati Technologies, Hyderabad was to make the process of event management and invitations fast, fun and customisable for a new platform named ‘Dekoh’ that brings an integrated experience of the web and the desktop. The brief was to design an invitation application which showcased features of ‘Dekoh’ to create, receive, send and manage invitations for informal occasions like birthdays, pool parties or graduation. Invitations make events special, and are considered a reflection of the host and the kind of event guests can expect to be a part of.

The host has the choice of sending a readymade invitation card or designing his own using borders, backgrounds, colours, layouts, etc provided with the application. It also helps maintain a guest list and record of all events with an additional gallery to store the invitations and photos, pool music for the party and share photographs, videos etc. The receiver receives invitations with the picture of the host for identification of the sender.

The process involved studying user behaviour, requirements and narrowing the primary functionalities to be offered to the user. Different usage scenarios were considered to arrive at the final feature set followed by a series of iterations for a robust information architecture which resulted in smooth navigation. The project was an excellent learning experience in terms of industry, design process and knowing my strengths and weaknesses.
