Book on Utensils

Book on Utensils

I developed a publication named ‘Book on Utensils’ based on the entire range of antique/traditional utensils, which were once used and were a common part of our everyday life.

I did a lot of research in terms of categorising the range of utensils as they varied in form, shape, height and structure, and developed a hierarchy in terms of order and sub-order. After numerous explorations, I could take suitable decisions about type, layout and the grid. Eventually, I came up with this publication which was able to avoid problems in terms of legibility and readability. I used simple English for ease of reading. The idea was to make it more interactive, give prominence to images and their respective traditional names.

I think I was able to come up with a concept which could avoid the tedious task of going again and again over continuous text. Here, the image played the foremost role as it made understanding much simpler especially in terms of understanding the form and shape of the utensils.

To come up with the final product, I had to naturally go through many hardships. Finally, when my book was right in front of me I felt as if a fairy godmother had simply created a wonder using her magic wand. Though I must admit that there were fairies who helped me to complete this project successfully: the three P’s of punctuality, precision and patience.
