Munch design workshop is a design outsourcing company, providing design solutions to apparel, accessories, textile and related industries. The project was developing a range of garments for their in-house prêt label ‘MOH’ for Autumn Winter 2006, Winter 2006 and Spring Summer 2007 in men’s and women’s categories; developing a range of accessories for ‘MOH’ leather bags for men and women; print development for T shirts of Stone River Classic (SRC), a Westside brand.

My role was to understand overall functioning and look of the brand, different processes involved, working of the company, current trends through market survey and studying the international forecast; come up with different concepts and inspiration to further trigger original designs; come up with different surface techniques and texturing, initial and final design development, procure fabric and trims, deal with vendors, make the sampling and production plan.

The company follows a systematic design process; hence, its ways of practising design are different from production-based companies. I got hands on experience with a prêt label, liberty in design, opportunity to understand the overall functioning of the brand, brand identity, clients and market, to visualise, design and execute the range, do production planning, costing, handling the end to end of the brand. The first time I did print development and designed accessories, it not only involved design but also technical aspects of bags, their dimension, use of material and 3D drawings. I also understood different ways of finishing the garment, quality check, and range planning of different stores.
