Ravissant has established its name in the national and international market for its wide range of products in fashion, home furnishing and lifestyle products made in silver. While they had a large infrastructure and an established couture line, they did not have an established prêt line.
My project aimed at developing a prêt line with simple and clean cuts, and also diffused some new ideas for their home furnishing range. The first collection was to be inspired by some traditional craft that would be incorporated into prêt garments; the second collection was to make a range of formal clothing using linen and the rest was kept fairly open-ended.
The prêt collections for the fashion department were to have five to six ensembles each, but at the same time have the flexibility to be sold as independent styles, so that the client had a wide range to mix and match her wardrobe, as separates. The colour and fabrics were to be kept in mind, to make the two collections different from each other. I also worked with stencil printing and surface development for adding value to their womenswear line.
The third was to be a small range of products for home furnishing, with a new design concept. I explored Origami and used it in fabric to give home furnishing a new direction.
The project involved understanding a market that is absolutely intimate; adapting to its system of working and creating something new, something apt for the brand. |
