The project dealt with a progression of the existing product range (Knitwear-Tops) in the first phase, and creating a unique and fresh product range (Yoga collection) in the next phase.

In meditation, clothing provides the body a comfort level, from which the mind can free itself of distraction and of being hindered by very loose, uncomfortable or tight clothing.
I chose to work with fashion designer, Anita Dongre as her Prêt line had attributes like minimalist, simple and stylish clothing, which were in line with the qualities that I would have liked to enhance for my learning. Anita’s retail chain, ‘AND’ is an epitome of well-finished simplistic styles in women’s ready-to wear garments.

My most important learning has been importance of clear communication with all levels of people involved in the process of actualisation—right from the boss, to the masters, tailors, embroiderers and others. I also learnt that every product made had to be sold ultimately. Therefore, every design has to have a rationale behind it. Participating in activities like sourcing fabric and trims, managing production, assisting in publicity shoots gave me a wide understanding of how a product should be conceived, produced and publicised. When my designs sold well, it led to happiness and assurance within, suggesting that my understanding was going its right path. This led to a building of faith in me. This project has brought to a full circle the education gained at NID.
